My Thoughts on "Emotional Intelligence" Part 1
Author- Daniel Goldman
From my point of view the book is very theoretical and had a very good insight into the emotional intelligence of humans. The in and and out for the decision making based on the emotional state at the time. As me being interested in psychology this was a very good book.
The book has sections and separated into 5 parts, and has insights from a lot of scientists who have performed various experiments with humans to study the relation between emotional intelligence and the decision making. There are as small experiments as just 2 people sitting a room together for just 5 minutes. Even those small 5 minutes give a good insight.
It has observations about variety of emotions like anger, hope, empathy, beliefs, impulse, intelligence, self-awareness, gut feeling, anxiety, feeling depressed and a lot more. How we can build up our anger, how if you can deal with and angry person then you might have mastered the art of emotions. These experiments have shown that having emotional intelligence is more important than higher IQ.
Now rather than extending this further, I want to end with a quote from the book.
"Anyone can become angry --that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, for the right purpose, and in the right way --that is not easy."
by- Aristotle, The Nicomachean Ethics
